I have been earning online for almost ten years and have had good times and bad.

I started as an ad typist.  Back in those days one was paid not only for placing ads on various classified ad and other advertising sites, but also for each instance that someone clicked on the ad, even if they didn't buy anything.

During my first few months online I was earning about $80 weekly for about 10 hours of work placing ads all over the net.  I took it for granted.

I thought, "wow, this is easy!". :dude:
I truly did not appreciate how good that was!

At first I considered it a nice little part time job, but I got hooked and saw the huge potential for earning more.

Sadly those good days didn't last.  Scammer members ripped off the ad typing company (by generating lots of fake clicks) and the site eventually went out of business.  I tried a few similar sites, but times had changed and no one was paying those top rates anymore just for getting clicks on ads.

I switched to selling Clickbank products, and had some success, but the income was unpredictable. I had a few good days in sales, then nothing for few weeks, and so it went on. If I stopped advertising, I stopped earning.  I managed to get two very nice commission checks from Clickbank in a four-month period, but I also realised that I wasn't going to retire on my Clickbank sales, at least not while dabbling at it during the spare 10 hours a week that I had to devote to the internet.

Along came high yield investment sites. I have never considered those as anything more than a sideline to my main online efforts, a way to keep the cash flowing,  hopefully in the right direction. It didn't always work out that way.

If you are thinking that paid surfing or high yield investment sites are the way to build your financial security, think again!

I was extremely lucky to stay afloat. Again, it wasn't long before I realised that I wasn't going to retire on high yield investments.

Back then I was also juggling a few affiliate programs. One of them had much potential and I was doing well, but I realize now it was not based on a financially sound business model, nor did it have the right leadership, and the program ultimately collapsed.

That was a shame. :(  I observed egos and tempers getting in the way of good business and seeing the writing on the wall, I left that program well before the final countdown and goodbyes.

In March 2006 I joined a business, which up to that point had been online for 15 months. I felt I had landed in a calm oasis of sanity and goodwill and mutual respect.  :D:D):D)

I felt totally refreshed and energized by everything to do with that business, and its community, and I continue to feel that way today.

The business was later renamed the Online Business Alliance.

The Online Business Alliance has been evolving, in reality since March 2005, into a business based on ethical business practices, integrity of leadership, and a wonderful community of people who understand that the secret of success is to help others to succeed. It is a business where the average person, who understands that success takes persistence and effort, can succeed.

Having the right business model is important. Trusting in the administration and the community, and being part of a spirit of generosity and teamwork are also essential elements for success in an internet business.  I felt like I had come home, and I still feel that way today.
